Mother’s Day: the Day After

It is Monday morning in Manila, Philippines, 7:00am. The day after Mother’s Day.

I have the day off from work, but I have been up since 4am, just in time to drop off daughter at her dorm, and my nephews at their house, because they spent the night.

I sit in my dirty kitchen while I sip on my overpriced Starbucks iced cafe americano (I just can’t replicate the same taste and kick at home, ok? (Yeah, right. Palusot.)) and poke out this blog entry on my phone, since I don’t want to use my laptop because of that stupid ransomware virus going all around (and also I’m too lazy to set up my lappy).

I am waiting for my, maybe, overpriced cleaning service to come because I feel I can’t do a better job than they can at a general house cleaning (yeah, right. Palusot) as I think about what I could buy with that money if I did the cleaning myself.

Anyway, yesterday was a good day.

We all spent the day at my Mom’s, just doing whatever. I stuffed my face with rice, because all our ulam were so good, the best with soda, too! Yeah, right. All bad for the health, yada yada. But it’s Mother’s day! Give me a break, ok?

We capped it off with a game of scrabble, with intent to beat the grand champion of all time, my mom. Nephews tagged team by blocking off potential high scoring spaces, though, of course, they were quite discreet about it until after the game. I think they were playing for a car. We all know how that panned out. (No car.)

Daughter gave me a photo frame, for my instax photos and whatnot, which I think I shall put on top of my study table. That is, if I had one. Sadly, I don’t. Lol. Now I think I should finally get one just so I can put my frame on top of it. Got my priorities straight, right? (But I really do want and need one.)

And so, back to today.

I had planned on going back to bed as soon as I got home from school bus service, but I don’t think I have the time to do so, anymore.

I think I’ll clean up a bit, so the cleaning people won’t judge me so much.

Mother’s day is over.
